Former Estate of Sir Harry Oakes, Atlantic Oakes is an oceanfront resort comprised of the original mansion and seven attractive buildings spaced amid twelve wooded and landscaped acres located on Eden Street in Bar Harbor. Family owned and operated, this spacious resort features 150 oceanview rooms with balconies or patios, plus extensive meeting, conference and wedding facilities on the premises.
The bright, sunny atmosphere of our indoor pool facility is a treat for our guests. Greenhouse windows let nature in; during summer the feeling is enhanced with lush, green potted plants. Enjoy a refreshing early morning swim or relax in the whirlpool. Lounge poolside or on the outdoor patio overlooking the bay.
For your recreational pleasure, there are five tennis courts (lessons available), a pebble beach, our own pier and float, and indoor and outdoor pools.

The Atlantic Oakes' location, adjacent to the Bluenose Ferry Terminal, is a perfect stopover for people traveling to or from Nova Scotia.
A short drive or a 20 minute walk will bring you to the heart of Bar Harbor's business and shopping district, where elegant restaurants and some of Maine's best shops await you. Within minutes of Atlantic Oakes are Acadia National Park's Visitor's Center and access to many of the Park's scenic drives and wilderness trails.
We have restored the Sir Harry Oakes mansion/summer cottage on our grounds. This charming home was named The Willows after the willow trees on the entrance drive.
About 200 summer cottages were built in Bar Harbor from 1880 to 1890. The Willows was built in 1913, one of the last estates built. The large wooden hotels (now gone) were built from 1865 to 1885. No matter how large and ostentatious the summer homes were, they were always called "cottages".
